A Texas native, Bryan began his professional career as the opening act for legendary jazz guitarist Larry Carlton. A graduate of University of Southern California (BM, DMA), and University of Texas (MM), he releases an average of three CDs per year, does session work in Los Angeles and Nashville, collaborates with modern dance troupes, spoken word artists, and is in demand as a film composer, sound designer, producer, songwriter, and guitarist. In addition to being an artist, he is also the founder of Rainfeather Records, a Nashville-based independent record label.

Bryan is currently on faculty at Blackbird Academy in conjunction with University of New Haven teaching audio production, engineering, and publishing.  Bryan has been on faculty at Belmont University’s School of Music and Vanderbilt University’s Blair School of Music where he taught electroacoustic composition, sound design and synthesis, songwriting, composition, jazz guitar, ear training, jazz harmony, computer music, contemporary music production, and the history of American song.

Bryan has worked extensively in sound design and electroacoustic media for over 15 years.  Working with C Sound, Max, Pro Tools, Sonar, Abelton, and many other DAWs.  He has released three CDs specifically showcasing these compelling and immersive sounds and continues to compose for this genre.

 

As an Americana artist, his latest CD ”Southern Intermission” (self-produced and released on his label) has garnered wide-spread critical acclaim both in the US and Europe.  His music is regularly featured on FOX, ESPN, VH1, Lifetime Network, WB Network, the History Channel, and the Food Network.  Bryan was one of the principal composers for globally syndicated, network TV series: “America’s Next Top Model” and “Project Runway”. He has worked with Bonnie Raitt, Lisa Loeb,  Larry Carlton, Scott Henderson, Phil Keaggy, and Kelsea Ballerini to name a few.

 

Bryan’s bluegrass quartet – Honeywagon – has: released 5 CDs to date, sold over 100,000 copies, over 1 Million collective YouTube views, over 4000 Facebook fans.  Their CD “Green Day, Blue Grass” stayed on Billboard Magazine’s Bluegrass Top 10 chart for 18 months (peaking at #3) and was #6 on the Billboard Bluegrass sales charts for the fiscal year of 2006.  Their most recent release, produced, mixed, and engineered by Bryan, debuted at #11 on the Billboard Bluegrass Chart.

 

Bryan has won major awards in: Unisong International Songwriting Competition, Billboard World Songwriting Competition, MOVA international songwriting competition, Great American Songwriting Competition, Performing Songwriter Magazine and John Lennon Songwriting Competitions. 

 

Recently Bryan has been performing and touring in China with the world-renowned Erhu virtuoso Xiaohui Ma. They performed in Shanghai for a televised Chinese New Year special that was seen by an estimated 900 million people throughout Euro-Asia.  Bryan is the only Western artist ever to be inducted into the Chinese Cultural Heritage Guild. 
 

In the last 10 months, he has been featured in: Premiere Guitar, Guitar Player Magazine, Flatpicking Guitar Magazine, Vintage Guitar Magazine, Billboard, and Mix Magazine. He is also a regular featured columnist in Guitar Player Magazine (the world’s largest circulated guitar magazine).
